Our passion, and claim to fame, are our made-from-scratch, hand-crafted, fresh loaves of the best whole grain bread on the planet. Our bread begins with premium wheat from north-central Montana, that we stone-mill into fresh flour every morning, right in our bakery! We take that wheat and blend it with ingredients from nature like yeast, salt, and local honey to produce bread that tastes simply amazing. There are no additives, frozen doughs, or ingredients you can't pronounce. We also have an array of homemade sweets, seasonal specialty products, and a full sandwich line, made with top quality meats, cheeses, and veggies. So what does "Anadama" mean? Local legend overwhelmingly credits a Gloucester fisherman with coining the term as a not-so-loving tribute to his wife, Anna. It seems Anna wasn't blessed with talent in the kitchen, and after numerous bowls of molasses and cornmeal porridge for supper, the fisherman angrily tossed in some flour and yeast one evening and threw the mixture into the oven. While it baked he sat muttering, "Anna, Damn her!", and the name was born.
Fortunately, so was this delicious, traditional, New England bread blended with stone ground corn and tangy buttermilk, slightly sweetened with molasses. Simply delicious toasted with butter and jam!

Your neighborhood bakery has just remodeled! We have gone from a small bakery on the corner to a spacious bread store and frozen yogurt shop. We bought the store adjacent to us ,(formerly known as Menchies Yogurt), knocked down the wall between the spaces, and created the perfect seating area to enjoy a tasty breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We have a self serve frozen yogurt bar featuring 18 delicious flavors, a huge variety of toppings, and also a Breakfast Parfait Bar for you to create your own fresh parfait. Our hours have been extended as well. We are now open 6am-9pm Monday-Saturday. Come in and let us introduce you to the new, redesigned Great Harvest and our Yogurt Shack!
